Job Summary:

Job Summary
The Contracts Manager will lead and manage the Operational delivery of agreed contracts and associated processes within the organisation, ensuring robust contractual compliance with providers and partners. They will support the development, monitoring, and management of healthcare contracts, ensuring adherence with national policy and strategic objectives.

Qualifications and Experience:

  • Experience in NHS contracting and commissioning. • Knowledge of NHS standard contracts and procurement regulations. • Strong communication, negotiation, and analytical skills. Desirable • Educated to degree level or equivalent experience. • Experience working with ICBs, NHS Trusts, or Local Authorities.

Key Responsibilities
Contract Management & Negotiation
• Ensure our execution of contracts comply with statutory, regulatory, and NHS policy requirements.
• Support the development of contract documentation, KPIs, and service specifications in conjunction with the Business Development function.
• Monitor contract performance, resolve issues, and support contract variations when necessary.
Performance Monitoring & Reporting
• Analyse contract performance against KPIs and SLAs, flagging and addressing underperformance before they are raised to, or by, the contracting authority.
• Provide regular reports to any and all commissioners and insights to senior leadership and finance teams.
• Coordinate and attend contract review meetings with providers and internal stakeholders.
Relationship & Stakeholder Management
• Act as the key contact for providers on contractual matters.
• Collaborate with commissioning, clinical, finance, and legal teams to ensure integrated contract oversight.
• Maintain constructive relationships with ICBs, Trusts, and independent sector providers.

Governance & Compliance
• Ensure all contracts adhere to Standing Financial Instructions, procurement law, and NHS standard terms.
• Support audits and due diligence processes.
• Keep up to date with NHS England and DHSC guidance on contracting, including Right to Choose legislation.
Financial Management
• Support cost improvement internally and externally, such as onward prescribing costs for ICB’s.

Key Skills & Competencies
• Excellent interpersonal and internal/external stakeholder management skills.
• Strong organisational and planning capabilities.
• Ability to interpret and apply complex policy and contractual frameworks.
• Skilled in Microsoft Office, particularly Excel and contract monitoring tools.

Other Requirements
• May require occasional travel to provider sites and partner meetings.
• Ability to work flexibly and independently in a fast-paced environment.
