Job Summary:
The Head of Non-Medical Interventions is a strategic and clinical leadership role focused on designing and overseeing support systems for people who access Keys Health Services. In the Head of non-medical interventions role, you will be responsible for ensuring the prioritisation and delivery of psychosocial support, environmental adjustments, and person-centred care pathways within the Keys health services.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Lead the strategic plan and implementation of non-medical support systems, ensuring they are specifically tailored for neurodivergent individuals and those with mental health needs.
- Create and refine person-centred care pathways that integrate psychosocial support with educational and environmental adjustments.
- Ensure all non-medical interventions align with the broader clinical strategy of Keys Health Services and meet national best-practice standards.
- Provide clinical oversight for the delivery of psychosocial supports, ensuring they are safe, ethical, and therapeutic.
- Establish and lead a robust audit cycle to measure the effectiveness of non-medical interventions and their impact on service user outcomes.
- Work with the Head of Patient Safety to develop protocols to identify and mitigate risks associated with non-medical support, ensuring a proactive approach to patient safety.
- Design and deliver high-level training programmes for staff on neurodiversity-informed practice and psychosocial intervention techniques.
- Provide expert clinical supervision to practitioners, fostering a culture of reflective practice and continuous professional development.
- Promote a "person-first" culture across the organisation that prioritises non-medical, holistic approaches alongside or as an alternative to traditional medical models.
- Act as the bridge between clinical and operational teams to ensure non-medical interventions are seamlessly integrated into assessment and treatment pathways.
- Lead initiatives that place the voices of neurodivergent individuals and those with lived experience at the heart of service design and evaluation
Qualifications and Experience:
- Extensive experience leading multidisciplinary teams within neurodiversity, mental health, or specialized educational settings.
- A proven track record of designing and implementing non-medical clinical pathways
- Professional experience working with autistic individuals, those with ADHD, or other neurodivergent profiles, specifically regarding environmental and social barriers.
- Experience leading organizational change, such as transitioning services toward more person-centred or "social model" approaches to disability.
- Experience developing clinical governance structures, including risk management and audit cycles for non-medical interventions.
- Success in collaborating with external bodies such as Local Authorities, Integrated Care Boards (ICBs), or educational regulators (e.g., Ofsted/CQC).
- Ability to translate complex clinical theory into practical, scalable support systems across service areas.
- Skills in using data and service-user feedback to measure the impact of interventions on wellbeing and educational attainment.
- Highly developed interpersonal skills to influence senior stakeholders and advocate for the rights and needs of neurodivergent individuals.
- Ability to design high-level training programmes and provide clinical supervision to senior practitioners.
Competencies:
- Demonstrable ability to connect with and provide support for children and/or Adults
- Familiarity with EPR systems, and high level of computer literacy
- Excellent communication skills, ability to communicate effectively with staff and patients
- Ability to work alongside others within a multi-disciplinary team setting
- Professional approach consistent with regulatory body expectations
- Excellent time management and ability to manage own workload
- Previous line management experience
- Strong desire to uphold clinical standards and deliver best practice

Professional Registration:
A senior-level qualification in a relevant professional field (Occupational Therapist, Senior Speech & Language Therapist, Educational Psychologist, or Specialist Nurse).
Certifications/qualifications in specific non-medical frameworks.
