Job Summary:

The role involves using tools such as ADOS-2 and ADI-R to inform diagnostic decisions, producing detailed reports, providing feedback and post-diagnostic support to families, completing risk and safeguarding assessments, and contributing to service development. Candidates must have strong clinical decision-making skills, experience with remote assessments, a solid understanding of NICE guidelines and co-occurring conditions, and the ability to work autonomously within a multidisciplinary team.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Conduct comprehensive, person centered, child Autism assessments.
  • Exercise independent professional responsibility for diagnostic decision-making within competence.
  • Administer and interpret standardized assessment tools such as the ADOS-2 and ADI-R to support diagnostic decision making.
  • Write detailed, accurate, and professional assessment reports highlighting findings and recommendations.
  • Provide feedback to individuals and families and assist with post-diagnostic support.
  • Complete risk assessments and review safeguarding needs during ongoing patient care.
  • Work closely with senior leadership team on the further development of the Autism pathways.
  • Provide consultation and training other members of staff to develop skills in this area of expertise.
  • Maintain registration with the appropriate governing body (NMC/HCPC,Social Work England).
  • Access regular clinical supervision, management supervision, and multi-disciplinary team meetings/case discussions.
  • Good knowledge of legislation, research and developments relevant to the field of Autism.

Qualifications and Experience:

  • Qualified healthcare professional with current UK registration with the appropriate governing body (i.e. NMC, HCPC) with no restrictions on practice
  • Experience in conducting child autism assessments using ADOS-2 and ADI-R assessment tools is essential.
  • Ability to work unsupervised and independently and manage own workload.
  • Excellent clinical decision-making skills
  • Exceptional organisational and problem-solving skills, with the ability to engage with clients, colleagues and carers.
  • Experience with remote work and conducting virtual clinics.
  • Detailed understanding of co-occurring conditions and differential diagnosis, including mental health conditions.
  • Strong understanding of NICE Guidelines for Autism assessment and diagnosis.
  • Strong communication, empathy, analytical skills, and experience with neurodivergent individuals.
